Is pleasure happyness?

It seems that earlier in the book it talks about whether or not pleasure as being happy. But this seems an odd question because we haven't even defined pleasure, or being happy. I would like to things that made you happy would also please you. If that makes any since tell me, if not i understand. It just seems to me that if you are doing things that are of the good then you would take pleasure in them and be happy.

  1. I think that Aristotle's definition of "happiness" would more accurately be described as contentment rather than just getting satisfaction. One can find pleasure and achieve temporary satisfaction through any action that is stimulating to them, even if that action is actually harmful in the long run. Therefore, the difference between happiness and pleasure is the long-term effects of an action. Certainly, some pleasurable things can cause happiness, but this is never a guarantee since some things that seem unappealing initially can actually be quite good for you in the future and vice versa.
